Synopsis
Clear, compelling and uplifting, The Promised Land is a simple, guide for sufferers of stress, anxiety and depression. The book is written by Chartered Psychologist Dr Rick Norris who has helped hundreds of people to think more positively by using the easily understood models, techniques and stories described in the book. The Promised Land explains why stress, anxiety and depression are more common today than ever. The book shows how the mind works when we succumb to psychological distress before explaning how we can successfully combat the causes by thinking more positively. Rick uses real life case studies to illustrate the stories of people who have succesfully turned their lives around by adopting a more positive approach to life.

A Gem
I have read quite a lot of self help books over the last 20 years, or so. Some have been full or jargon; others written for the American market and others, frankly, plain ridiculous! Occasionally, I have stumbled across a real gem which has spoken directly to me. "The Promised Land" is one such book ("Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway" is the other!) The book combines a clear, uncomplicated perspective on the sort of negative behaviours which, unfortunately, I can fall victim to, every so often. It is rooted in clear, common sense. Easy to understand and uplifting it has given me the boost I needed to regain my confidence and get back out there and not give in to pessimistic, self fulfilling negative thoughts! Great
A guiding light amongst self help books.
Buy The Promised Land and you will be purchasing one of the finest self help guides I have ever read. So impressed was I by this book that I have recommended it to many of my private patients since and have never yet heard a bad comment. Dr. Norris has distanced this book from other cognitive works simply by making the advice and the techniques 'stickable.' Every piece of advice is refreshingly up - to - date and easily accessable and almost impossible to forget. The modern reader cannot help but be informed by Norris's work. Interestingly, this book can add value to everyones quality of life, not just those suffering from aniety or depression. Read this before anything else.
A Really Useful Read
This beauty of this book is that it is so easy to read and so easy to understand. Once I started to read I found it difficult, near impossible, to put down. For weeks I carried this book with me everywhere and during moments of self-doubt would turn to the relevant pages for an immediate pick-me-up and inspiration. As self-help guides go this is one of the best that I have read (and I've read alot!) and can whole heartedly recommend this as a worthy addition to anyone's book selves.
