Erratic and frustrating
I bought this to play .avi/Divx files. And I'm hugely disappointed. You might insert a disc and it will give you a menu and then play the file perfectly, then later you might insert that same disc and it will display BAD DISC or WRONG FILE CONTENT. And unfortunately the latter instances far outnumber the former. The fact that the player is capable of reading and playing the discs sometimes and not others lead me to conclude that it is the player, not the disc, at fault. You might argue that you get what you pay for, but even a cheap player still ought to play content consistently.
Great Value!
I ordered this item a week ago and it arrived in 4 days (with Super Saver Delivery).
I've tested it with the following media:
1. DVD (Video) - Perfect! No flaws here.
2. CD-R (DivX) - Every 5 seconds or so, the display of video appears to fall a bit behind. It's hardly noticeable as the player is fast to catch up. It may appear because of the quality of my CD so you may get different results. The sound was perfect.
3. DVD-R (DivX+Subtitles) - Great video & fabulous audio (AC3). On one of my movies, the subtitles appeared unsychronized (2-3 seconds ahead of video & audio). I can't suspect why that is, but I don't normally use subtitles anyway.
4. DVD-R (Jpeg) - The player allows you to rotate, zoom in and pan the picture. But if the image resolution is high (>2 MegaPixels), it's very slow not only to display the pictures, but also to rotate or zoom in. For this reason, when you try to go to the next picture, it may take at least 3 seconds until you see it on your screen.
The menu is well organized and the file browser behaves exactly as I expected (there's even a JPEG Preview integrated in it). The filenames displayed are limited to about 12 characters, so try and make sure you can distinguish between them (you can put them in different folders or rename them).
From my point of view, the biggest flaw this Player has is its JPEG Viewer (very slow).
I think it's a good product and for the price of £30.99 it's great value!
Not very good
Had it working properly for about 6 months. Then stopped viewing divx and finally got totally quiet at around 9 months old. Softly speaking too sensitive to buy.
