Product Description

This advanced chemistry text has been updated to match the specification for A Level Chemistry from September 2000. The chemical storylines and related data include the latest developments and they are split clearly into AS and A2 units so that they make moving from one level to the next more logical for students. The new editions of all the texts in this series should make it easier for teachers to match their teaching to the new modular specification.

Not too bad3
Whilst the content here may appear fragmented, and it is to a ludicrous extreme, this is only because this book is intended to be used alongside the Chemical Storylines book, which does detail specific topics in Chemistry and make continual references to the appropriate areas of the chemical ideas book. If followed together, they do generally make sense; but taken in isolation, it's too easy for CI to appear a mess.
Generally, there is an unfortunate degree of waffle within this book, which explains unnecessary things in sometimes exceptionally drawn-out ways. The exercises are challenging but questions are not to exam quality, existing instead only to test your knowledge of that topic in isolation, which is also a shame.

Totally agree with Ed...2
I'm a Year 12 student studying the Salter's course and while it may be helpful to some students (and my teacher raves about this), I am having such an impossible time using these books! The worksheets that come with the course also have questions that apparently you can find answers to in these "amazing" books. That's a lie too. I really need this A-Level for Medicine, and to be honest, this course is making me want to drop Chemistry. It's not as if I am not a good student either, I got AAA* in Science so I blame the books I'm afraid...Hope this helps...Maybe other types of learners will find this set of books easier to handle...

put it this way! got me an A5
ok. in my as levels i had a setriously rough time beacause of ilness and what not . so i only ever went to like one lesson a week. while i was at home i was studying with this book along with the storylines and it was the only source of info for me really. When i found out i would not be at school for all this time i thought i would fail chemistry but after reading a lot of this book i ended up with an A in the exam. If people are saying this book is in a muddled order i would partly agree but i think the main thing is the actual explanations and if you work your way through the syllabus reading this as accompniment to it you can't go wrong. If you are going to all the lessons and reading up on the topics youve covered from this and the storylines you can't go wrong. An A in chemistry is not a piece of cake but this makes it a damn site easier. BUY IT!!
