Customer Reviews
A haunting, mysterious and original tale of a bicycle.
If your humour is bizarre and you relish the inexplicable, then this is just the book for you. The author's minimal text and highly unique illustrations combine in this very original tale. On an unknown day in an eccentric world, Gorey's pedal-less bicycle transports Embley and Yewbert to a conclusion they cannot comprehend. The route is populated with sudden threats from the natural world and the author's characteristically sinister and ominous shadows uttering enigmatic warnings. Intrigued? You will be!
Surrealism with pictures
This is the best surrealist work I've read since Max Ernst. As usual, Gorey's illustrations are great (actually very spare in this book), and the text is subtle yet funny. "Beware of this and that."
Oo, er. Fi: donc.
This is one of the best books ever written. Strangely, I don't know why.
