CD Description
One of the world's finest orchestras is shown here in a different light, tackling (with guests) some of the most popular songs of recent years in a broadly classical style on thiscollection under the Classic FM banner. Popular classical music figures are drafted in for some of these experiments toadd melodic focus, including clarinettist Emma Johnson ('Something Inside So Strong'), 'cellist Julian Lloyd Webber ('Save The Best For Last') and guitarist Craig Ogden ('Fields Of Gold'). Elsewhere, the orchestral arrangements of modern classics like Coldplay's 'Yellow' and David Bowie's 'Life On Mars' provide new interpretations of these established songs.

something very special
Songs Without Words
This album is quite lovely. Juliette Pochin (debut album "Venezia") and James Morgan have created something very special. What must have been a very difficult undertaking has been produced and recorded superbly. Some superb performances by wonderful musicians.
A truly wonderful mixture of lovely music.....you do not need to be a fan of the original songs...the music stands on its own and is a real joy. A must for any collection.
Mmm... nice!
Really, on the first listen to this you will be stunned. The first track is Yellow, made famous by Coldplay. I didn't really like this song in it's original form, so I wasn't expecting much, but I was so wrong. It turned out to be beautiful, and it was the same story with all the other tracks. On the first listen it gave me such an emotional lift, and I was already feeling great! I'm pretty set now on ordering another one to give away as a birthday gift - I believe there aren't many people who wouldn't enjoy this. Who knew doing orchestral versions of pop songs could transform them so positively. I only wish there was more of this sort of thing about! Actually, there probably is a lot around - I just haven't noticed, in which case I thank Classic FM for their marketing and presentation.
Perfect with a large glass of wine!
I bought this for my parents, but when they put it on I liked it so much that I bought myself one. Now I use it to unwind in the evening with a large glass of wine and my dogs. Its really beautifully produced and very intelligently orchestrated. Can't wait for the next one!
