Product Description

Internationally recognized for its successful problem-management and opportunity development approach to effective helping, Egan's text emphasizes the collaborative nature of the therapist-client relationship and uses a practical, three-stage model that drives client problem-managing and opportunity-developing action. Egan masterfully leads readers step-by-step through the counseling process, while giving them a feeling for the complexity inherent in any helping relationship. As readers begin to understand the various steps of the helping model, they are able to improve their competence and confidence measurably. In this new eighth edition, Egan has built upon the strengths of the last edition in which he presented a "positive psychology", solution-focused theme by adding new discussions on evidence-based practice, research, and philosophical perspectives around how helpers know what they know.

The skilled helper5
In my second year on my uni social work degree I had a assignment based on Egan. You can not complete this assignment without the use of this book. Egan focus is on communication and the ability to communicate with other on different levels. However this book was also helpful in other assignments as communication is key to what we do in social work. Egan provides clear examples and stages of communication.

Good Read4
Interesting and easy to read however the latest version is the 8th edition for 2009.
Covering communication skills, empathy, challenge and the Helping Model in short, quick paragraphs and sections well defined.
A book all new Social Work students should buy to inform and guide you through Egan's systemic approach.

Disappointed1
I am disappointed because to date I still have not received the boog I ordered over a month ago and I need it for my course work. A package containing children's books was sent to the address.

I will appreciate it if you can dispatch the book I ordered immediately.

Thank you,
