Four newly discovered and previously untold adventures are revealed when the missing Lara Croft's closest friends gather in her honour. As they reminisce about her past exploits, they learn new details about her life as well as the lives of characters from her past adventures. Lara journeys from the ruins of Rome, to the bowels of a German U-boat, to the rooftops of a hi-tech city in a search for four ancient artefacts. The game uses the same graphics engine used in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, but introduces new moves: tightrope walking, parallel bar swinging, and a hand-to-hand stealth attack. An enhanced inventory system allows for greater combinations of a variety of weapons and items. Create your own adventure with the Tomb Raider level editor, which includes a tutorial level and all of the tools required to construct custom levels.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Lara Croft, cultural icon, cover girl and scourge of wildlife everywhere was last seen buried beneath an Egyptian pyramid at the end of Tomb Raider: the Last Revelation. Despite this apparent demise, Lara returns in Tomb Raider Chronicles, an adventure that features previously unseen episodes from her career. Old friends of Lara who have gathered for her funeral and to swap stories about her exploits introduce the stories.
The first level is set in Rome, and is classic Lara; plenty of jumping and puzzle solving with a minimum of gunplay and is reminiscent of the very first Tomb Raider--it even features the comedy bad guys Pierre and Larson from that game. This chapter also serves as an introduction to Lara's various moves and is a real nostalgia-fest for long-time fans.
The other chapters have distinct themes: on a spooky deserted island an unarmed teenage Lara must get through by wits alone, there is an action-packed level set on a submarine and, most intriguing of all, Lara infiltrates a high-tech building and utilises various stealth techniques. This is very Metal Gear Solid-esque and possible indicates the direction the series will take in future. (Lara's not really dead? Now there's a surprise.)
Unfortunately, the fiddly control system still remains, and the graphics have only been given a slight polish, but to combat this, an array of customary new moves have been added--this time Lara can use a tightrope, for example--but these are essentially cosmetic. The gameplay overall hasn't evolved much, but thankfully the puzzles are less obscure this time round, and the levels are tightly designed which cuts down on the aimless wandering that was common in the middle games of the series.
Tomb Raider fans will be very happy with what is probably the most purely enjoyable game since the first. Lara-phobes will take more convincing, but all the hype that surrounds her shouldn't obscure the fact that the divine Ms Croft hasn't appeared in a bad game yet and Tomb Raider Chronicles is no exception. --Michael Bartley
Manufacturer's Description
Finally, Lara's previously untold exploits are revealed in Tomb Raider Chronicles--the next instalment in the multi-million selling Tomb Raider franchise. In light of her recent disappearance, those closest to Lara gather together at the Croft Estate on a grey, rainy day for a memorial service in her honour. Afterwards, the friends sit quietly together in the study of the Croft Mansion and reminisce about Lara's exploits--exploits that have until now remained a secret...

I didn't enjoy this, I'm sorry to say
I'm a Tomb Raider fan, but this game to me wasn't even worth finishing. I didn't enjoy playing this to the point where I didn't even finish. I played around 2 thirds of the way though then gave up.
The first 3 TR games are outstanding, but the next 2 didn't cut it, in my opinion.
Ok, so it's got a lot of good reviews here, but this is just my humble opinion. I don't think I'd ever be tempted to play it again, but I did purchase the PC version as you receive the Level Editor to create your own levels.
Apart from that, this to me wasn't classic Tomb Raider.
BEST TOMB RAIDER
this is the best tomb raider game it is x-treamly hard and the annoying camera angles are worse but its worth getting
Hmm...
Tomb Raider Chronicles is definitely a good game, but as part of the Tomb Raider series it isn't so impressive. The Last Revelation is in my opinion the best game of the series, and I feel like this game has slipped down a bit. First of all, in this game Lara doesn't go anywhere near a tomb most of the time, instead she's sneaking through military bases and submarines. This isn't necessarily a bad concept, but to me it's not what Tomb Raider is about. I want to explore a quiet, eery tomb and solve puzzles and shoot a few enemies, rather than sneaking through barracks and dispatching soldiers. The stealth that you're forced to use in this game feels like a weak Metal Gear Solid imitation and personally I didn't receive it well. The game engine is also practically identical to the previous game, and isn't even THAT different from the original Tomb Raider, despite being released about 4 years after. If you think about the difference in graphics between Final Fantasy VII and VIII, which were about 2 years apart, you can see that Core design weren't keeping up. I've never played the PC version, but apparently it's full of crippling level bugs, especially on the final level, which can stop you from finishing the game :S So I'd buy this version instead!
Still, Tomb Raider Chronicles is a good adventure game and can offer you a lot of exciting gameplay, and is thankfully a little easier than its predecessors, although it's still a difficult game. Overall, I prefer TR4 by far, this game isn't realy Tomb Raider to me. It's still worth a look though.
