Spooky US TV series Supernatural delivers some of the most satisfying small-screen scares in recent memory. The premise is deceptively simple: brothers Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki from Gilmore Girls and Jensen Ackles) travel the darker corners of the American landscape in search of their father, who's gone missing while hunting the malevolent forces that lead to the death of their mother. In the course of their search, the siblings encounter a host of gruesome and spooky otherworldly creatures, including vampires, ghosts and witches, as well as such distinctly American phenomena as the urban-legend favourite The Hook, monsters from Native American mythology and fearful figures from well-known children's games. Supernatural's integration of elements from pop culture and folklore, combined with its skilled cast and crew (creator/co-writer Erik Kripke delivered 2005's Boogeyman, while director/executive producer David Nutter is a veteran of The X-Files and Millennium), and better-than-average attempts at atmosphere and suspense place the series well above the other spookshow programs that arrived on TV screens at about the same time. That, plus a well-crafted evolving relationship between the brothers, ensured the series captured the imagination of fans of frightful fare worldwide. --Paul Gaita

Another late night gem I missed first time around.
This is a brilliantly well written, well acted and visually stunning show. As well as the horror themes, which are often quite intense, it is packed with humour and so many tributes to many other shows and movies of the genre. It's also littered with rock music trivia, some I got straight away e.g. "Fathers Simmons and Frehley" and the Blue Oyster Cult motif etc. but there are so many I would have missed due to the fast pace of the show.
The two stars click well as brothers with more than their fair share of brotherly issues as they search for their missing father and to avenge the death of their mother. As they journey across America, funded by their skills as con-men, they meet all manner of legends, urban myths, serial killers as well as demons. It is a long way from being just an X-Files clone.
The box itself looks great and is pretty sturdy. Horror and classic rock music songs are a winning combination for me and I'll certainly be buying the other series.

Supernatural rocks my world
I hate that i get so addicted to tv shows! Supernatural is one of the ones that i can't get enough of.
Brilliant story lines, characters and two super hot men. very very good!

Great show and great dvds too
The show is just great. I like the idea of a new story for each episode as you can just watch without really having to know what has happened before. Well written and directed.
The dvds are great value too, buy them while you can!
