Product Description

Millions know him as a loudmouth radio shock-jock and Sun columnist. Yet, in his life Jon Gaunt has had to overcome unimaginable hardship, solitude, bankruptcy and despair. His mother died suddenly when he was just twelve, his hard-drinking, womanising father abandoned him to suffer appalling treatment in a children's home. At twenty-eight, his business had a million pound turnover, but a stroke of fate caused catastrophe. Undaunted, Jon Gaunt has always fought back. Behind the outspoken media personality, this is the very human story of self-preservation, personal growth and forgiveness, told in Jon's inimitable forthright style.

Customer Reviews

A waste of trees1
For a man that has little talent in his job, he made sure to let us know that he has even less talent in writing, calling this man a hack would not be even close, the book is a terrible mish mash of words that occasionally make some sense.
If you enjoy reading this, then perhaps you need to further your scope of material beyond backs of cigarette packets.
I was loaned a copy of this book recently by a ex-friend, and all I can further to this, is I want my 2 hours of life back, so sorry, its awful.

Think of the trees next time you buy, most books are worth a read, this one is not.

Bland, Dull and Uninspiring.1
My partner bought me this book for my holiday read. I found it self-pitying and over-indulgent. I didn't finish this borefest. Save your money.

The Poor Man`s Working Class Hero1
The main theme of this book is a phoney persona and a fabricated working class life.
Gaunt is full of self-pity and wants us to feel sorry for his so-called hard upbringing and cheer his so-called rise to the top.
True he writes a column for the best newspaper in the world but he is no Richard Littlejohn, Kelvin McKenzie or Garry Bushell.
He also presents a show on Talksport but he is no James Whale, Nick Ferrari or Steve Allen...and his TV appearances are pure phone panto.
Gaunt is just a poor writer he got lucky and this book is not a genuine story of a working class hero.
