Demonstrates a master at his craft5
Neil Young has always been at his most dynamic when he plays live. Jim Jarmusch has caught the raw energy of the man as well as capturing Neil at some of his more quiet moments.Having seen Neil in concert many times over the years and knowing I was actually at one of the concerts back in the seventies, it was a real blast to see some of the old footage when Neil had a large fan on stage that blew his hair sideways when he played Like a Hurricane. Most of all I was absolutely gobsmacked and a ghostly shiver shot down my spine when the film came to a scene in the foyer of Hammersmith Odeon as the camera panned the punters and there I was nearly 30 years ago looking straight into the camera looking at myself. A moment I shall treasure always. All fans of this film should also check out Jim Jarmuschs' "Dead Man" which features the music of Neil on the soundtrack.

Inner horse spooked by the intensity5
This appropriately rough cut, is a true expression of Mr. Neil at his best namely live with Crazy Horse. A fluently mixture of live footage from the Year Of The Horse Tour, statements from the performers (and others) and flash-backs on the history of this unique constallation of musicians. The live footage is both real tight and nearly hypnoticly loose. As Neil Young phrases it, on stage it is not Neil Young and Crazy Horse, it is just Crazy Horse. The statements are a mixture of tour anecdotes and personal reflections on the dynamics of the group. All in all a nice treat for both beginners and enthusiasts. More barn!!!
