Liverpool Daisy
I first read this book many years ago and have been looking for a new copy of it for a while.
Helen Forrester always writes about Liverpool with warmth and candour but this novel also explores the helplessness of the leading character, living through the harsh period of the depression.
She falls, literally, into a solution to her problems and the story describes how her life changes beautifully.
This story is also a social commentary - well worth reading!
A delight
I am an avid fan of Helen Forrester and have quite a few of her books. This book did not dissapoint me, it was wonderfully well written and kept me glued to the very end.
I particularly like the biographies of Helen Forrester and whenever I read them my heart goes out to the poor young girl who was made to suffer for her parents quite inadequate parenting, leaving the care of the children to a young Helen.
