Product Description

London by London: The Insiders' Guide is the ultimate guide to London - representing the collected knowledge of thousands of Londoners on hundreds of subjects. Forget traditional guidebooks which are aimed squarely at tourists - London by London is designed to appeal equally to lifelong Londoners and visitors alike with inside information on the best bars and restaurants in the capital sitting alongside stories about some of London's oddest buskers and most talented graffiti artists. With its innovative question and answer format, the book is perfect for dipping in to when you need to be reminded why London is the greatest city in the world. Questions answered in the second edition include... · Where is the best place in the capital to get a cocktail after 2am? And where can you get champagne before 8am? Where is the best place to buy a non-stolen second-hand bike? Or a camper van? Where is London's most breathtaking view? And where is the best (and worst) place to live? Where is London's best steak restaurant? And which cafe does the best fondue? Why does no one ever speed through the Limehouse Link tunnel? How can you get London Underground to pay for your cab home?...and much, much, much, much more besides

No Londoner Should Be Without It4
Whether you are a born and bred Londoner or a new arrival LondonbyLondon is as essential to have as an A-to-Z or your Oyster card. I have been here for years and the book has shed light on a whole new range of aspects that London has to offer.

Sure, there are a few rants but the majority of the contents will be useful at one time or another. Whether you are alone and need a bit of inspiration to fill an afternoon, or you have friends coming in for the weekend and you need interesting things to do on a shoestring. There are real gold nuggets here.

Taken For Granted4
Being born and bred in London - albeit the deepest and darkest of South London - I've often taken the fact that I have the best City in The World at my fingertips for granted. This book has most certainly opened my eyes to the wonderful world that London has to offer beyond my usual haunts of Oxford Street, Leicester Square and Camden Town.

The notes section at the back is great and I've scribbled down a few things to look at. Me and a friend have planned to be tourists for the day and are heading out with our back packs to discover, for the first time in our 21 years, what London really has to show us.

It makes me feel ashamed that a random toursit who has visited maybe only a couple of times probably knows my City better than I do. After reading this book, I am no longer going to neglect my Wonderful City!

The bible that is London By London5
I urge you to read London By London and marvel at the incredible range of fascinating, hilarious, informative and amazing information on the mind boggling experience that is London, as described by the best contributors on the subject you can possibly engage - Londoners.

As a confirmed Londoner of 14 years residency, I thought I was pretty clued up as to some of London’s best/worst/funniest/coolest places, people, sights, sounds and experiences. After a read of this book though, I now see that I am merely a wet-behind-the-ears new boy!

This is a must-own book for any fan of London, especially those (and I include myself in this bracket) smug ‘I know this town’ Londoners – the ones who think we know it all and get all sniffy at tourists and our country cousins holding us up when trying to get through a tube barrier. This book will do two things for you. Firstly, widen your horizons and let you know that there is so much more to this town than you ever thought and secondly make you feel like you really do know London because you recognise the characters, places and experiences discussed like they are your very own.

If you decide to try to get to know London to the extent that London By London does, my advice is forget it – it will take you more than a lifetime!
