Customer Reviews
easy to read, insightfull unpretentious, and Very helpful.
This book offers a usefull insight into the twentieth centuries greatest directors. It is seperated clearly into different chapters dealing with different directors, and although it does not offer fully comprehensive guides to each director, there are still plenty of interesting facts and ideas to get your teeth into (Chekof's views on Stanislavski were quite surprising). The main selling point of this book for me, however is that it is written in plain easy to understand English, not the technical jargon that academics enjoy using in their books. If you have any interest in 20th century theatre whatsoever this book is going to be well worth the money, and can easily be understood by people new to theatre.
