Creative Games in Groupwork
A wonderful book which in two weeks has massively enhanced my work with two groups of trainees in a fun and imaginative way. This book is excellent not just in the large number of easy to use or set up games and exercises it contains but also because they are categorised into readily understandable subsections such as Getting To Know You (icebreakers, On the Move (energetic games), or Solve A Problem (brainteasers). Even beyond that each sections has clearer instructions and options for running it as well as a description of the kind of interaction or skill it might enhance such as confidence in speaking up. The book also sets out limitations that participants might encounter e.g. because of the physical activity. Most of the games require very little preparation; even where some work is necessary beforehand it is well within the capability of most of us. The only thing that this book does not contain are role plays relating to specific real life situations such as meetings - otherwise get it and use it to loosen up your participants!

I am enjoying this book - reading through a bit at a time because there are wee gems and idea sparkers within the descriptions of the activities.
I got the book to find some new ideas for opening up creative thinking while working with adults; and I will also be using some of the games at home this Christmas.
