Product Description

Eluvium is the recording moniker for Matthew Cooper, a soloelectronica artist who specializes in heavily atmospheric music that clearly owes a debt to the ambient work of Brian Eno. That influence can be heard on COPIA, which finds Coopermoving away from the guitar and electronics-dominated textures of his past releases toward a majestic orchestral feel. Slow, stately chord progressions create subtle, shifting moods and colors, giving rise to a meditative state in the listener. The presence of acoustic piano gives COPIA a hint of contemporary classical or New Age at times, but it's the thick washes of synth that make it even more absorbing.

Astonishing!!!5
This album is one of the few for which I can honestly say it needs nothing added or taken away. If someone put lyrics to the music created here it would not do the simple, elegant beauty of the tracks justice. And it is not a one sided affair filled with melancholia, or easy listening major chord progressions, this is a record which in the space of three tracks goes from the bleak sounds of 'Prelude for Time Feelers' to the simple joy of 'Radio Ballet' as brilliantly as any musician could possibly imagine.

If you ever need to just stop, chill out, and relax from whatever you are doing there is no album better. You are garaunteed a smile by the end of track 1.

This is effortlessly fantastic.

utterly beautiful !5
Eluvium inhabits the space that modern classical music has abandoned - creating beautiful and inspiring music - something that ingages the brain and the heart. This is wonderful, second only to Talking amongst trees - and a very close second - this is music to rejuvinate the spirit, and faith in life. A joy.

A Beautiful Piece of Music5
This is an absolute masterpiece.

After numerous wonderful albums and ep's this could be Eluvium's crowning glory. Gone are the washes of guitar and its shimmering echo and in it's place we have horns, trumpets, synths, strings and glorious piano.

In some places the music may give feelings of pain or pangs of loss, but it's not depressing music, it's simply heartfelt instrumental beauty.

Fragile, yet resplendant, it's a majestic piece of art to lose yourself to. Wonderful.
