Customer Reviews
Thorough and informative
I read this book from cover to cover. It's an informative piece of work from one of the grandma's (no offence, Shirley!) of aromatherapy. Particularly liked the chemistry section as it was well explained. Shirley Price has a wealth of experience, which she draws upon 99% of the time. This kind of writing has worth, but my only criticism (hence 4 stars instead of 5) is that, because of this, the book does tend to lack references to clinical trials; something which we need more of in aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy workbook, by Shirley Price
Good all-round book that gives a solid basis for understanding aromatherapy. Includes chapters on history, production, botanical families, chemistry, therapeutic usages of specific oils, with useful tables. A highly readable and useful book from one of the "grand old ladies" in the aromatherapy field. Beginners can benefit, but I think that the book is aimed at potential and practicing aromatherapists. Regarding the title, I thought that it meant a booklet where I could fill in the blanks, etc. However, her meaning seems to be a reference for people who are working with aromatherapy.
Great Book
This book is great if you are studying or just interested in Aromatherapy. It goes into detail about the chemistry of the oils in an understandable way, however if you have no chemistry background, this may seem a bit overwhelming. The charts that are in the book are an excellent reference for when using oils for specific ailments and are in an easy to read manner. There are still bits of the book, I haven't read, but you can either read it cover to cover or use it as a reference. A definite recommendation for any student, although maybe a bit indepth for an ITEC course, but will definitely be great for my next years study doing BA Hons.
