This exciting new text on organisational culture gives an overview of a subject which is becoming increasingly popular with both academics and practitioners. It examines the linkages between culture and the concepts of organisational change, human resource management and strategic issues.
The reader is given an introduction to the origins of the current interest in organisational culture, with examples drawn from real-life organisations. Building on these fundamental concepts, key issues in the study of culture, such as problems of definition, the development of cultures, sub-cultures and national cultures, are examined in detail.
All concepts and theoretical points addressed are illustrated with specific case examples and the final section draws together these concepts and speculates on future trends in organisational culture.

Excellent, text for all undergraduate business students
It is rare to find such an accessible and readable text book. Dr Brown introduces each chapter concisely and leaves the reader in no doubt as to the learning outcomes attainable. This book is written in a clear, easy-to-follow style; case studies and models are provided throughout so that students can apply new found knowledge and understanding to realistic organisational settings. Whether you an under- or a post-graduate student of business or have merely a passing interest in organisational culture, I would recommend this book to you as an excellent read. If you are a student of business or organisation studies then I would recommend that you put this book on your shopping list as a 'must have' text.
Essential reading for BA business and MBA students.
This is an excellent read. It uses interesting case-study material to illustrate all aspects of 'organisational culture' providing sources, definitions, and applications of the 'culture' approach to interpretive organisational analysis. The language of the book is straightforward and accessible. Diagrams and models are used extremely effectively to enliven and illustrate the books' arguments. Highly recommended for BA (Business and Organisation) and MBA students requiring a concise but wide-ranging textbook to assist them with the cultural aspects of organisations. Excellent use of referencing also provides the student with a wealth of source material. This is a particularly good value textbook at the price.
