Product Description

The most effective CV you’ll ever write.

The best interview you’ll ever give.

This revolution in the way we sell ourselves in CV and at interview is based on the Elevator Pitch concept and has now been endorsed and recommended by over 40 of the world's leading business schools and universities, from Kellogg to Columbia in the US, from Insead to London Business School in Europe and from Otago to Sydney in Asia-Pacific.

The Elevator Pitch prioritises who you are and how you work, the qualities that you are employed for, rather than what you did and where you worked, your past, which is the emphasis of a traditional CV. The Elevator Pitch shifts the focus from your perspective to the employer’s perspective and from the past to the future.

It's a way of presenting yourself that makes more sense to the employer, and allows you to sell yourself more effectively. It's a way of writing a CV and preparing for interview that will vastly increase your chances of getting the job.

Employers now are focused very much on competencies as a way of deciding who to employ. This is the book that shows you have to bring your competencies to the forefront. In a time when there are far more graduates than top class graduate jobs, standing out from the crowd is vital. This is the book to show you how.

The second edition incorporates feedback from the authors' global seminar and lecture program, meetings with careers advisors at these institutions as well as helping hundreds of people create their job winning CVs.

Customer Reviews

Get it right first time5
This book was practical with just one objective to get you the job you want. It did just that for me. Like most of us I was using effectively the same CV I had been using since leaving university and had not given the process any thought since. The book made it possible for me to breakdown the recruiting process into building blocks. I could critically analyse each stage and take a measured approach to answering the employer's question: What do you offer me? I would suggest, if you are serious about getting yourself to the top of the short list for interview before the next candidate, get a copy of this book.

No Brainer - not worth not having5
What can I say, I bought this book recently and rewrote my CV and sent it off to a number of companies. Previously I hadn't had many replies but having changed my CV and my outlook due to this book i got offered every job I applied to. Can't argue with that - well worth the price.

It's simple; 0 for 6 before the book, 4 for 4 since the book5
My story is simple, I'm an MBA student and I sent my CV out to over 15 companies hoping for an interview and didn't get one. After reading and applying the principles found in "PITCH YOURSELF" I've sent my CV to 6 companies, so far, and I have been invited to 6 to interviews!
"Pitch Yourself" drove me to totally reexamine the way I approached the CV process. First, it began with the need to really understand myself, who I am, in order to uncover my competencies. Second, I had to forget everything I thought I knew about CV's, listing my accomplishments, utilizing elaborate wording in order to impress the reader, hoping that the reader would assume I could accomplish similar success in the new position. Instead I reoriented the proposition of my CV from what I had done to what I will do, based on my competencies.
My success has caused quite the stir at my school because of the obvious power that this book possesses.
You will stand out from the crowd and you will offer the reader tangible evidence of the abilities you will deliver by positively answering the crucial question every CV reviewer has, "What do you offer me?"
