Product Description

An engaging range of period texts and theme books for AS and A Level history. The Cold War was an economic, ideological and political confrontation. There was no single cause, no single driving force and no single factor that brought it to an end. In this incisive and thought-provoking book, Mike Sewell examines the complex historiography surrounding the Cold War as well as the events and issues themselves. Topics include: the origins of the Cold War, the globalisation of the War culminating in the Cuban Missile Crisis, the period of detente which followed, and the end of the Cold War in the 1980s.

Customer Reviews

Concise, comprehensive, and a most excellent read5
I was fortunate enough to hear a series of fantastic and thought-provoking lectures by the author of this slim volume. Reading this is almost as good as listening to the lectures. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in brushing up their knowledge of the Cold War--it should be in every serious 20th-century History student's library.

The Cold War (Cambridge Perspectives in History)5
Highly condensed, packing an amazing amount of information. Just the book for examinees. Will not suit those requiring extensive descriptive passages.
