Synopsis
A compelling glimpse into the otherworldly nature of the spirits--protective forces, phantom pets, departed loved ones--that occupy Annie Wilder's haunted Victorian home. Original.
Customer Reviews
Enjoyable read if a bit unbelievable at times
If you like a good account of a haunting then this has plenty to spooky detail and atmosphere to delight you. The house in question sounds extraordinary, however, the account of the author's experiences become less and less believable towards the end of the book due to the sheer number of spirits identified and the off-putting psycho-babble/'new agey'language used. Not scary but very entertaining nevertheless.
Give it a go!
I originally bought this because the cover interested me and I thought it sounded interesting from the synopsis.
It's actually a very easy and quite a good read. I find a lot of books like this to be quite 'Americanised' (no offence intended to anyone over the pond that might be reading this) and a bit mumbojumbo-tastic, but this one wasn't like that at all. It is very well written and doesn't contain colloqualisms all over the place.
I already own quite a few books on the supernatural and the like, some get stuck into cupboards and onto bookshelves and left to gather dust, but this is one I'd read again.
If you've got this far reading my review, then I'd say give it a go. You can't really go far wrong with it - it's an entertaining read and quite believable, if you already believe in the spirit world. If you don't, try it anyway. Whichever way you look at it, it's a good little book.
not what I thought
I purchased this book after placing another's title wrong in the search engine. Not what I thought it would be but none the less interesting read if you believing in the spirit world. I have yet to see proof but like so many others fascinated by it. A house full of whispers was my target and I thought that was a more intriguing read and a lot more scary even though it dealt with living breathing people. I remember a saying that was once told to me. It's not the dead you should fear, but the living. In this instance I realised what that saying meant.
