Indispensible, wish I'd found it earlier.5
The title of this book might mislead you to think that it is going to be about how to keep your child with autism on some of those rainy days...this is far from the truth.

It is an extremely well-written, readable and informative book which guides you through the maze of helping your child with autism in many different ways - sensory issues and what you can do to help, visual schedules, learning social issues, language and more. It explains why children with autism struggle and really it does the work of a shelf of books.

I could not put it down and it gave me many ideas to help my son.
I believe it is on the reading list for Relationship Development Intervention (a very good reading list indeed put together by the Gutsteins which can be found at their website, Connections Center.)

Ellen Notbahm who is a co-author of this book also penned "10 Things your Child with Autism wishes you knew". There is a particularly good introduction to the sensory dysfunctions people with autism can struggle with.

Altogether a very encouraging and helpful book well worth a look (I will not be parting with it in a hurry!)

Good luck on your journey, may you find many things to help your little one cope and thrive.
