Delicious and varied ideas for lunchtime meals.
From the Back Cover
Lunch is a word which can be interpreted in many different ways: a robust Sunday roast with all the traditional accompaniments, or a more informal meal of soup or pasta. But most people recognize lunch, particularly at the weekend, as a time to get together, to catch up on news, to entertain, and above all to enjoy good food.
Claire Macdonald's Lunches is a wonderful collection of recipes which will suit every kind of midday meal. From recipes for business lunches, like savoury profiteroles and goat's cheese roulade, to picnic and packed lunches such as game pasties, Scotch quails' eggs or sausage hotpot, Claire Macdonald has gathered together a truly mouthwatering array. She gives a chapter on brunch, including favourites like kedgeree, eggs benedict or muffins, as well as the more unusual pigs in blankets, and a selection of starters and main courses for special occasion lunches. Also provided are invaluable ideas for children's lunches, like home-made hamburgers, toad in the hole, or fishcakes. And Claire Macdonald's irresistible selection of puddings will ensure that the finest lunch is finished off to perfection.

Customer Reviews
Absolutely fabulous
Superb. The best cookery book I have ever read. Perfect ideas for children aswell as adults. Quick and easy ideas for light lunches, and more filling heart warming winter dishes. I always enjoy Claire Macdonald's commentaries which accompany the different chapters. Even my father can use it for his own cooking purposes which shows how easy the book is to follow and it even has made him more adventurous in the kitchen!
Lunches? - only for the upper crust
I found this book very disappionting as it adapts a rather aloof and snooty tone towards the concept of lunch and presumes that everyone will be able to come by vension or pheasant easily(caught on the their estate naturally) Also in the picnic lunch section the author includes such outdoor 'classics' such as irish stew, beef casserole and roast guinea fowl dishes. Quite how or why anyone would make or transport these hot dishes on a picnic does not seem to have entered the authors head - but then I would imagine that her servants would be doing the majority of the legwork.
Verdict - its lunch but not as i know it
