Eddy has chosen his favourite twenty-five inland touring routes and described them in loving detail. The routes are beautifully illustrated with numerous colour photos and specially commissioned maps. The selected routes are suitable for open canoes, sit-on-tops and touring kayaks. Many of them are multi-day trips that can be tackled as a single voyage or a series of day trips. Great variety is provided, the journeys taking place on inland lochs, sheltered sea lochs and rivers of up to Grade 2. This is a wonderful book for planning, dreaming of future voyages, or sharing your experiences with non-paddling friends.

About the Author
Eddie Palmer is a canoeist of 45 years' experience. He has paddled extensively in Europe as well as the USA and Africa, and has sampled virtually all of the canoeing disciplines, having had an early career in slalom and white water racing. Currently he is a leading UK open canoe sailor. He has been on canoe camping expeditions in northern Europe, USA and Canada and, since moving to Scotland from the north of England 10 years ago, has paddled many waters in Scotland, those experiences providing much of the material in this guidebook. Eddie was also a leading figure promoting access in N.E. England, contributing to the Tyne Agreement, and the Tyne Tour rally, and was Northern Region BCU Chairman. His interests are in travelling by canoe and kayak, supporting the Open Canoe Sailing Group, and in environmental and wildlife issues.

Paddle!!!
A great book for trip planning, especially if used together with "Scottish Sea Kayaking" and "Scottish Canoe Touring". The information about portages, access points and the general areas you will travel through is excellent but it would be useful to check with the SCA Access Officer just to confirm that the access points are still available and that there are no other local issues.
The O/S sheet numbers are for the 1:50,0000 Landranger series not the 1:25,000 Explorer series. I prefer the Explorer series.
