Editorial Reviews
Review
'7stanes is delighted to support the production of this keenly awaited mountain bike guide. We hope it encourages you to visit us in the south of Scotland and to experience Scotland's biking heaven at first hand,. Laura Stewart, 7stanes.
From the Publisher
The fourth in our series of mountain bike guides for the UK
and Europe; 'Selected mountain bike rides in southern Scotland and the
7stanes' is packed to the brim with rides and info. As everyone of us in
the bikefax office is mountain bike mad, it was a real treat to spend our
time riding the routes and putting together this book. We're really pleased
with the final package and whats more everyone else seems to be too. Keep
us posted on your thoughts on the routes and check on line at
bike-fax.com for trail and access updates.
From the Author
First came the fun part. We spent months on a voyage of
discovery throughout southern Scotland, riding every track going. We rode
all of the fast and furious 7 Stanes routes, had our multi-day epics and
bothy visits, discovered that you could still be hard-core on natural
trails in the Galloway hills and clocked up well over a 1000 kilometres of
riding on everything from mountain to moor, forest trails to coastal
rambles and downhill to XC.
Then after all this came the hard bit, choosing which of all the
outstanding rides should go into the guide. This was no easy task, as we
all loved each and every trail we had ridden, and with so much variety in
the area, we found it desperately hard to leave anything out. In the end,
with the help of the opinions of a lot of well informed locals, we had to
make the final cut and leave the rest for volume 2.
No doubt the final selection will be hotly debated and the adventurous
rider will already be finding variations of their own on our themes, but
we're confident that the dozens of routes described in this guide will keep
most riders busy for quite a while yet! See you on the trail.
