This book helped me acheive my English Lit GCSE5
what more can i say? although this cannot be a substitute for the actual book it certainly goes a long way when trying to understand the main themes and the characters. of course you cannot just learn the book by heart and expect to acheive the highest grade - your own opinions are vital and this book is just an aid in forming your own ideas.
the book has improved a lot from its last edition and now has many new features including examiners tips, "did you know?" and useful insights into the authors life and how this would have affected her writings.
5 out of 5 for me - fantastic aid for all students studying the text!

Good4
Its good and extremely useful for A-level students. It really helped me understand what was going on in terms off which character was which, this at first I'd found icreasingly confusing and frustrating. Its also a good method of finding quotes (once you know the storyline) as its chapter summary helps you find the part of the novel you need as you can't always remember when a certain scene took place. Then its easy to read through again and find an appropriate quote without having to leaf through the whole novel repeatedly.
Also has really useful info on themes discussed in the novel which help inspire your own opinions and give you new ideas.

Pride & Prejudice5
I ordered this paperback for my non-reading 19 year old granddaughter, who had begun reading the hardback while on holiday with me at my home in Spain. She had always enjoyed the TV series, which we watched together while she was here, but I felt she might get more insight into Austen's penetrating characterisation by reading the book and the notes.
