Blinding
Not great at reviews generally, but had to jump into this. I think D 'Nell are doing some of the most outstanding British Soul at the moment... great vocals alongside (mostly) gritty, stripped-down hip-hop instrumentals (with some bumpin' up-beat riddims too) allow for those divine vocals to cut right through to where one feels it most. Lyrics are meaningful, many relating to personal introspection on relationships and the like.
D 'Nell deserve your support so that more of this can make it's way through... absolutely superb.
Another great British example of hybridisation: file under soul / funk / r&b / hip-hop!

From the silky smooth beats of Weigh It Up to the chillout vibes of Standing In A Crowd you can't help but love this album. D'nell are singer Ellie Hajee and producer Dan Jones who certainly create a harmonious blend of hip hop beats and sexy songs. Different Day is a track full of gorgeousness which has elements of day dreaming reflected in the songs lyrics. For those who like a bit of funkiness in their lived Roja is for you as trumpets ooze over heavy beats to blend into 70s electro guitars and Elli's funk laced tones. Music fans should check this as it breaks down so many borders.
