Classic Chaplin
These early comedies,from his most creative period, were combined into a compilation by Chaplin himself in the late 1950s. His specially composed music and narration augment the visuals. The films are too well-known to offer anything new in comment. All one can add is that the picture quality is quite remarkable and the 'extra' footage showing rare glimpses of Charlie in his film studio are fascinating in themselves. A good worthwhile addition to the Chaplin collection. A point of trivial-persuit interest - the vocalist on "Bound for Texas" from "The Pilgrim" is none other than the young Matt Monro!
