Rip off1
VERY DISAPPOINTED in this book. I wanted a reassuring, no-nonsense guide to keeping two or three hens in the garden and this "book" was recommended. Yes, it is reassuring and no-nonsense, but utterly useless for information - very amateur.

For example: she talks about having an 8m sq run for her chickens. But doesn't say how many chickens she has. 8m sq for two chickens means no-no for a small garden, but perhaps 2 chickens don't need as much room? I don't know, and this book won't tell you. She lists some suppliers at the end, no web addresses given. A line drawing of a coop - no dimensions - is this thing 20 feet long or the size of a shopping basket?

This "book" (rough paper with two staples, so not a book at all) would only be good if you picked it up free in the pet shop - she does keep repeating that chickens are easy and fun as pets. But at about a fiver, it is a complete rip off.

very basic booklet1
I was very disappointed that this is not even a book, but rather a booklet with only 31 pages with alot of drawings, therefore not much space for information. It is a very basic introduction to chicken keeping, but at the price of a 'proper' book. I'd been hoping to find information specifically on keeping chickens in a small garden, preferably with a view on permaculture, ie new and innovative ideas, but only 2 pages deal with the garden environment, and there wasn't anything new in there really. The only good thing I can point out is the lovely paper it's printed on.

A complete amatuer production1
What a dissapointment. Not a book, a booklet that you would expect from a child at primary school.

No helpful dimensions, facts or anything else that would have been useful. I agree with the other readers who felt cheated.

All I want to do is raise 4 or 5 hens and wanted information on coup size, feeding habits, size of garden run etc.

If it were possible to award 0 out of 5, I would have.
