Synopsis

From the Author
Why I wrote this book.
This book is written as a beginner's guide to keeping tarantulas, several species of web spiders (widows, orb weavers), hunting spiders, scorpions, whipscorpions, tailless whip scorpions, and wind scorpions. However, probably 90% of the text is on tarantulas. I have set out to cover all the basics for keeping tarantulas alive as well as how to breed them. I also introduce the reader to the basic biology of tarantulas. I feel an understanding of tarantulas as the products of evolution with adaptations to their native environments can only lead to better captive husbandry. Laura's drawings are outstanding: beautiful as well as biologically accurate. I had fun writing this book, I hope you enjoy reading it!

Customer Reviews

Whether a novice or professional, this book is a must.5
Being a beginner in this field, I have found this book to be so informative and fascinating that it has given me the confidence to extend my collection without any reservations.

Good book4
For tarantulas, this is a good book, definitly worth purchising. It also gives some decent advice on scorps. However the other arthropods are only glanced over. He would have done better to dich that bit about orb weavers, wolf spiders ect. and write some more on scorps and tarantulas. I would buy this book if your a newbie to tarantulas.

The best in on-line care.5
I thought it was one of the most informative books on the keeping of these exotic pets that I have ever read.
