Brilliant

This is the pilot for the TV series "The Sweeny" one of the seminal cop shows of the 70's and maybe one of the most quoted shows ever.

I bought this as a fan of The Sweeney for more years than I care to remember. Having never seen this pilot before I must admit to being a bit unsure but this is definately a must purchase for any fan. It is well written, well acted and serves as a good intro to the main series which, if your purchasing this I'm sure you'll have probably bought 9AND IF NOT THEN YOU SHOULD DO!!).

A must have for Sweeney Fans
Although I own a VHS and DVD copy of this already, Network DVD have made an exceptional effort in bringing us this latest offering. For me it had to be the intsrumental background music from the library's of DeWolfe and KPM that made me purchase this. But also for the digital remastering that has taken this production from a "hair in the gate" film show, to a Cinematic masterpiece that will look good on any home cinema.

Last year I discovered and greatly enjoyed the UK LIFE ON MARS. The US version sucks rubber donkey lungs. What were they thinking?! Sorry, I digress. Anyway, loved the crude cop Gene Hunt. Remembered the two SWEENEY movies my son had brought me when he returned from his visit to the UK a few years back. Saw the resemblance 'tween Hunt and Regan. Decided that since I now had an all region player I might as well get ALL the SWEENEY episodes and of course needed to start with the pilot. Didn't feel that the pilot was that much different than the series regular eps, but that's not a negative by any means. I'm a John Thaw fan and his Regan character is great! This is 'spose to be a review but all I can say, if you've been in a cave for 3 decades or so, wake up and see what you missed in the 70s. Great show, nice packaging and only thing missing is bonus material. What the hey...the films speak for themselves. Gotta also say it's a kick seeing Dennis Waterman in NEW TRICKS 30 some years later. 'Nuff said.
