What can I say about this book? It's so great, fun, adventure and great characters. Loved by children and grown-ups around the world.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Book 3) PaperbackHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Book 3) Paperback by J.K. Rowling

My favourite HP by a mile(Book 6 wasn't half bad either). Lupin and Sirius are great characters and the twist at the end was a genuine shock at the time.
A History of the Crusades: The Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Frankish East 1100-1187 v. 2A History of the Crusades: The Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Frankish East 1100-1187 v. 2 by Steven Runciman

A truly readable academic history book, which is an extinct breed these days. Infinitely more entertaining than the appallingly bad "Kingdom of Heaven".
Selected Poems (German Texts)Selected Poems (German Texts) by Walter Von Der Vogelweide

O God, what does it say about me that my favourite poetry is 800 old? Hand to God, it's still great stuff and quite naughty too.
Das Doppelte Lottchen: Ein Roman für KinderDas Doppelte Lottchen: Ein Roman für Kinder by Erich Kastner
Buy new: £7.50 / Used from: £10.96
Spawned a million and one copy-cat books and movies, but this is the original. Kaestner proves that Germans can write great children's books.
Ronia, the Robber's DaughterRonia, the Robber's Daughter by Astrid Lindgren
Buy new: £8.79
In my view, Lindgren's best work. Not as funny as some others, nor as realistic, but beautiful and poignant. Great reading for adults and kids alike.
Foucault's PendulumFoucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco
Buy new: £6.73 / Used from: £0.01
The antidote to the bloody "Da Vinci Code". So heavy-going that most critics didn't even read it, but it's defintely worth the trouble. The twist at the end makes it worth it all.
The Name of the Rose (Reading Guide Edition)The Name of the Rose (Reading Guide Edition) by Umberto Eco
Buy new: £6.73 / Used from: £0.33
Eco is an intellectual giant with a wicked sense of humour and his story of a medieval Sherlock Holmes hunting for forbidden books and a murderer proves it.
L.A. ConfidentialL.A. Confidential by James Ellroy
Buy new: £6.96 / Used from: £0.01
A crime classic. The movie was great and complex, but the book is so much more. Multiple stories and a cast of thousands deftly handled. What a ride!
