Customer Reviews
The illusive book.
I'm a fan of the Brain Froud pressed fairy books because of the unique pictures inside. I was expecting to be impressed by this sketchbook but it failed to blow me away. The sketches are nice but they lacked that sense of humour that the pressed fairy books capture so brilliantly. Unless you're a fan of the goblin books, the sketchbook may not appeal to the fairy lovers. However, the price I paid for the sketchbook was a bit more hefty and I see that the price listed here, is far more than fair and worth the purchase if you enjoy the work of Brian Froud.
Feel a little let down.
When I first saw this for sale I thought great! An inside look into Brian Froud's work and his preliminary sketchs. However upon receiving it, for the price, you don't get much for your money. I would have expected a lot more content. This is one that really just rips off the fans of his work. I am a professional practising artist, and I know the amount of work generally produced when creating covers and illustration. Alot could have been included here, especially considering the sheer volume of work which Brian has produced in his career. This isn't even edited highlights.. :(
A brief journey into the imagination of Froud
This book is exactly what it sais on the tin. It is not a collection of finished polished paintings, it is a sketchbook; and if you own one yourself, you know exactly what one consists of. This is a collection of various scribbles and doodles of faeries, pixies and goblins, both pencil and watercolour; some of them iv'e noticed to be preliminary sketches for much of his older watercolour works, which would be dating back to the late 1970s.
The only downside to this book is that there could have been far more content because of the price, but overall its a must for any Froud fan.
