Synopsis
Engaging your child in creative play isn't just fun: it gives him or her the tools to succeed in life. In everything they do, from drawing and playing, to seeing and understanding the world, solving problems, and developing deeper relationships, children use their creativity. It's how they learn to understand the world around them. It's no wonder, then, that parents want to share in the joy of creativity with their children - both as a way to encourage their children's creative lives and to express their own creativity as well. For those whose creative life was revitalized or sparked for the first time by their children - or for those seeking ways to creatively engage with their children - "The Creative Family" offers ways for the whole family to deepen their creative endeavours through art, play, nature, and family celebrations.Full of simple activities and engaging projects, this book offers ways to: keep creating as a parent; create and connect with one's children in thoughtful and meaningful ways; and nurture a child's own creative self. To this end, it offers a wealth of different ways to connect as a family.

A must for all parents of any age children
This book is really inspiring. There are so many ideas of what to do to make you and your kids be so much more creative and shows you how to think about activities in a new light. It is really thought provoking just like Amanda's blog. This should be a must on every parents book list as it shows you that expensive battery driven toys, computer games and television aren't the only things to keep your kids amused there are other ways and along the way you may become more creative yourself.
A must read and a great gift to give other parents.
Fabulously inspirational
Brings together all of the things which I love - family, crafting, homemaking, cooking, planting, thrifting etc etc. Never found someone who incorporates into their life all those aspects to which I aspire! Fabulously inspirational - and projects all shown with instructions. My 3 year old has already done some sewing and I've changed the layout in my family room to incorporate a space to get my sewing machine out permanently!
Excellent!
I honestly love this book. I have just about put it down since it has arrived and have been quoting it to everyone I come across! I've been inspired to look at the way my children play in a new way and to look at them for ideas for various projects I'm involved in! Excellent book much anticipated and it hasn't disappointed! Love it!
