Thomas The Tank Engine Ultimate Train Set
I bought this train set of Thomas The Tank Engine for my son's 13th birthday. Believe it or not, after many years of leaving Thomas forgotten in his closet, his interest in his collection of the train has taken on a new meaning. He was adament that this is what he wanted for his birthday - I was bewildered - he could have asked for any gadget on the market, but no... Thomas has long been a favourite and needless to say that this set is very big and satisfies anyones appetite for fun. I have to admit that he prefers the blue tracks to the new master rails that have replaced them and we would do anything to find the blue tracks even if it means buying them second hand.
On my son's birthday we cleared up a huge area in the garden and he spent hours building the tracks incorporating old tracks and the new ones from the ultimate set... after many hours of work he had a gleam in his eyes, full of satisfaction that he even took a photo of the finished layout... he was very very pleased and I was indeed very happy to see him content.

Massive, perhaps too massive for many children of he target audience.
My sone got this this for christmas last year and he loves it to bits, but since the first couple of days it has never been together in it's entirety, A, because he has lost and roken some of the part and B, it takes up so much room we have to rearrange the furniture to fit it all out.
Fortunately it is a very adaptable set so you can build all manner of different tracks and it is his most played with toy.
Ease of setting up is a bonus, and has developed his problem solving skills as he has to work out how to make his track designs fit together.
