So little cash for so much protection5
I admit that I can't provide evidence of static damage to p.c. components, but it DOES seem to be accepted wisdom that this can happen easily and in a big way. Wrap this cheap strap round your wrist, attach the crocodile clip to the p.c. chassis and plug the computer in at the mains (POWER OFF) and you're earthed (and your sensitive cards etc. are safe). Wear it with pride.

    pretty handy little thing5
woke up to find a huge cardboard box outside my room, wondering what it could be, i ripped the box apart to find the anti static wrist strap, which was a bit odd seeing as they needed a arms length box to fit it in, either way, i got it the next day, even ordering at round about 5ish.
I had never sued one of these before, but its really really easy, works like a charm and fits all wrist sizes, and it can stretch pretty far, and it doesn't get in the way.
worth getting if your doing a lot of pc building or other electrical work that doesn't have another method of grounding yourself.

Good value (though mine was a gift!) and comfortable5
I received one of these as a Christmas gift from my wife a couple of years ago. I keep it in its box on top of my PC's case and so am never tempted to open the case without using it.

I'm not sure what it cost, but delivery wasn't an issue because I know it was purchased in a computer store that's just a ½-hour walk from here.

The strap is comfortable to use. I'm not sure I've ever had an ESD problem ruin any PC parts, but I've had a few bits and pieces of PC kit fail over the years and one new CPU, too (replaced at no extra cost to me by the local computer shop -- their first query was where did I get my WinXP from, as though a pirated piece of software was to blame, but they changed their tune when I reminded them I'd bought the WinXP upgrade from them!). I'm not sure if errant handling was to blame or if it was a dodgy processor.

Prior to owning this wristband, I used the "always touch the case first" rule, and I suppose I still do, out of habit, but I've installed quite a bit of kit wearing the wristband and haven't had any problems.
