Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
The runaway television hit Six Feet Under has attracted more than a few fans, so it’s no surprise that Volume 2 of the show’s soundtrack should boast such high-profile music stars. And, given the series’ rather quirky nature, it’s pleasing to see some relatively leftfield (though no less successful) acts recording songs just for the show. And, not surprisingly given the show’s subject matter, the subject of death looms large. New York New-Wavers Interpol contribute the moody and atmospheric "Direction", while hip up-and-comers The Arcade Fire add the melodic and mellow "Cold Wind". The Caesars, meanwhile, surely add the album’s most appropriate cover version with a ramshackle take on "(Don’t Fear) The Reaper". Elsewhere, the artists and tracks, though less hip, are no less appropriate for the show’s fans: Radiohead, Coldplay and Jem (who contributes the exclusive track "Amazing Life") are all represented. If they keep putting out soundtracks like this, Six Feet Under’s success as a television series looks set to be mirrored with its music. --Ted Kord
Customer Reviews
a great compilation
This is a great collection of music. It's evocative of the series and a good collection of music regardless. I'd say it's slightly better than the original soundtrack album and is great for that late night listening. Well worth a try.
Oh. It's all over bar the shouting....
If you're bereft now that SFU is over and you want to get the atmosphere of the show in your living room then you could do worse than buy this album. There is an eclectic mix of old songs, new songs and odd songs. Some tracks you will be familiar with: Coldplay, Ceasers, Nina Simone and Radiohead are the four most well known artists in my opinion.
Some tracks are more obscure but utterly brilliant: Sia's "Breathe ME" is fabulous. This track accompanied Claire Fisher on her journey to her new life in New York as the series came to its end. Imogen Heap's "I'm a Lonely Little Petunia" is short at just 50 odd seconds, but is worth the purhase price alone!
In all, this is an odd collection but a moving and surprisingly original collection. It perfectly captures the essence of the show. Buy it and enjoy!
