Amazon.co.uk Review
Every child is naturally curious and we all know that children like to play. The Jump Ahead Toddlers (ages one-and-a-half to three) CD-ROM has been specifically designed and produced to capture a child's imagination and to engage their attention by providing fun activities that will stimulate their young minds, making them want to play them again and again.
Throughout, children are encouraged to learn letters and numbers, shapes and colours, learn about animals, to discover music and musical instruments, basic vocabulary, listening skills, mouse control, songs and rhymes, IT skills, hand-to-eye co-ordination and many more useful life skills. The music is bright and lively, the graphics are colourful and the whole is explicit, clear and easy to understand. The CD-ROM is easy to load and particularly helpful is a special mode to keep children from accidentally exiting the program. Help will obviously have to be given to the very young, as the program is aimed at children from 18 months to three years old, but before long, the child will want to do the activities by themselves. There is also a pamphlet that has basic information regarding installation and other technical hints and tips, which should be read before beginning.
This is one of a range entitled "Children", a range of "educational entertainment that not only keeps the little ones quiet, but teaches them essential core skills and tentatively introduces them into the realms of computing." --Susan Naylor

Suitable for all Preschool age's
This software was originally bought for a 2 1/2 year old. Since then it has been enjoyed by children aged from 14 months to 5 years old. The younger ones enjoy "feeding the dog" and "hide and seek" as these only involve moving the mouse. Other activites involve clicking the mouse on an item or using the keyboard, which suits more 2 1/2 and up, depending on child. Highly recommended though, maybe more 'mouse movement only' activities could improve the product.
Lots of fun!
We bought this for our 2.5 year old daughter for Christmas. She had never used the PC before so had no idea about mouse control etc. Two months later she is making good progress, she is able to do one of the games "peekaboo" totally by herself and will have a good stab at the others. She can now use the mouse to move to where she wants to be but hasn't quite got the hang of clicking on what she wants yet! One feature of this DVD is that if the child does nothing for a while, it will move onto another game for them to try, so if your child has got bored with one thing, something new will come up. This can also be a downside though as my toddler found out when she left it to go to the toilet, and came back to find the game she had been playing had vanished! There are games for letters, numbers, shapes and colour, and music, and all the time they are learning valuable mouse control skills too. Many of the games can also be played by hitting keys on the keyboard randomly, so even if your child can't get the hang of the mouse they can still enjoy playing the games. I think this is a good first PC game for a toddler and excellent value for money.
Excellent for learning how to use the mouse
Bought this for my 2 1/2 year old after he'd had difficulty getting the hang of the mouse with other pre-school games. Within 10 minutes he'd made more progress than during all the time spent on other games. A good range of entertaining games with plenty of interaction (voices have English accents too) which require various degrees of mouse control (from sweeping the pointer across the screen to clicking on individual items).
Very good as a first computer game, with enough content to keep them interested once their skills develop.
Only negative is you have to manually set a low screen resolution on your system before running the software.
