You Can't Get Better Than This!5
If you have a vivid imagination and a love for strong heroines (or even a perchant to be one!) then Robin McKinley is the author for you. A few of her books, including "Hero and the Crown" are marketed at a younger audience, but I can assure you that she will satisfy and delight people of all ages. I am now 30 and find that her books get better with age.
"The Blue Sword" is part of the same chronicles and Harry is as delightful a heroine as Aerin. (although I love Aerin a million times more) I have recommended them to everyone I know, along with her book "Beauty" which is an adult version of Beauty and the Beast and a truly excellent novel! I would like to say at this point that I normally read Jane Green and Marian Keyes, so if this isn't your normal cup of tea you might be surprised if you give it a try.
Lastly I will say that Spindles End is quite good, but not a patch on the other two. I don't know what order this set is in, but I would recommend you read "Hero and the Crown" first, then "The Blue Sword" and "Spindles End" last.

Two out of three ain't bad....3
Hmm, Spindle's End wasn't bad i suppose but it did tend to drag on a bit and after all the hype for Robin McKinley, well, perhaps my expectations were just too high.
Then there's The Hero and the Crown, I'm 16 and the books are probably aimed at younger people, so whilst i found this book to be well written, amusing and sweetly romantic it didn't really satisfy me. However - I did think the book was good, so for younger children I 100% recommend it!
Then we get to it - The Blue Sword - go buy! Harry's great, an unusual female hero. Less stereotypical than Aerin. This book focusses more on strategy and the different factions and people in the Kingdom of Damar/surrounding land. Excellent.
