Average customer review:Product Description
The contributors investigate the links between the rise in internal conflicts and the proliferation of private army activities in the 1990s in Africa. In exploring solutions to the upsurge of mercenaries, the book seeks a political and legal redefinition of the term mercenaries and calls for new international legislation.

Customer Reviews
A much needed analysis in the study of mercenarism.
A good all-round analysis of the "who, where, when, why, how" in providing a slightly biased study of mercenarism. Sometimes the writers got a bit too "emotional" in their "witch hunt" of security problems in Africa, wrongly placing the blame on mercenaries as the problem. It is worth bearing in mind the simplest economics principal of all, demands create supplies. When international community fails to act, why should the market forces not be given a chance.
