Synopsis
Espionage exerts a hold on the public imagination. "The Spying Game" covers economic intelligence and the fight against organised crime as well as the activities of MI5, MI6, the Defence Intelligence Staff and GCHQ.

Immediate and Current accuracy
In the fast-moving, slightly blurred world of intelligence operations it is often hard for anyone except aficionados to distinguish between the authentic and the dross. Alas, there is all too much of the latter, often masquerading as the genuine article, but Michael Smith's THE SPYING GAME is emphatically in the former category, written by a discriminating journlist who, unlike many of his Fleet Street colelagues, really does known and understand the business of espionage. His information can be relied upon, and it has not all been drawn from disaffected former MI5 or SIS officers. The result is a balanced assessment packed with good case histories.
