    Great SatNav - Great Price5
Having driven/ridden since the 60s, I swore I'd never have one!!

When I saw this little gem at such a low price I thought I would give it a go to see what all the fuss is about.

The service was excellent - ordered one day, dispatched the next and received the following day.

I have now used it for a month and am very impressed.

Easy to program with new addresses and places, it goes everywhere with me.

I travel all over the UK in a van and it attaches easily to the screen where I can see and hear it quite clearly. For security, I can remove it in seconds and put it in my pocket.

At weekends, I ride a motorcycle and can attach it to the screen in the same way where I can still see and hear it without the need for any earpiece.

I'm sure the more expensive models have all sorts of additional features and 'gismos' but this model does the job at a remarkable price and is a great introduction to the world of Satellite Navigation.

    Garmin Nuvi 2005
Purchased the Garmin Nuvi 200 in July 2009 for £59.98

Can't quite believe how good this product is for this amazing price!

It's a very small and portable unit, so not only ideal for the car but for walking and cycling too (seperate handlebar mount available). The built in lithium battery is good for around 5 hours, so plenty of time for most journeys but of course it comes with a 12v car charger lead too. The unit is typical Garmin - well made and thought out - lovely thing to handle. The windscreen mount is compact yet functional and very strong on the glass - no risk of falling off. The 12v lead is also well made and a good fit in the unit using a standard mini-b USB connection, which many people will already have a lead for.

The screen is bright and the volume very loud (I run it at only 60%). It automatically adjusts brightness and puts itself into a night time mode when sunset occurs. The touchscreen is very positive, fast and a pleasure to use.

The Garmin software is a joy to use and you really don't need the manual at all. Full 7 digit postcode searching takes you straight to your destination without any fuss. You can also select from a VAST range of Points of Interest (POIs) including hotels, hospitals, petrol stations, places to eat, shopping centres etc. It also includes safety camera information, both fixed and known mobile camera 'zones', whereby it'll 'bong' as you drive, warning you of an approaching camera or camera zone and continuing to warn you if you are above the speed limit for that road.

You can also enter longditude and latitude manually if you fancy a bit of geocaching too! although I don't believe it shows you your exact L&L anywhere - you'd have to rely on the map. It does however have an 'off-road' navigation setting whereby it won't continually try and get you back onto roads!

There's an SD card slot in the side if you fancy downloading additional maps etc.

On the road, the navigation itself is classic Garmin - very accurate and clear with plenty of information on the screen without being over cluttered and voice prompts right where you need them. You have complete control over the map - detail level, zoom, brightness etc and screen updates are perfectly fast enough. It's a small unit but even stuck on my windscreen which is quite a stretch to reach, it's easily readable.

This unit doesn't have some of the high-end features like bluetooth, iPOD connection or real-time traffic info etc, but for solid navigation in a very portable device, I don't see how you could beat this unit, especially at this amazing price.

One downside is that it's not waterproof, but few of these units are. It also doesn't come with a case or USB lead. I bought the standard Garmin leather case that the unit slips into - perfect and cheap. USB leads are cheap, but as i've already mentioned, it uses a standard Mini-B type lead, which many people will already have for other devices - cameras etc. My last minor niggle would be that you can't select a QWERTY keyboard for typing on the touchscreen, but that's being very picky.

Fantastic bit of kit. Well recommended.

(btw: I've no idea what the 'newly overhauled' bit means, but apart from my unit coming in a rather anonymous looking white Garmin box, it was absolutely brand new - screen protector still on it, everything in bags etc)

    Garmin overhauled nuvi 200 - brilliant!5
This is my first ever sat-nav. Selected following the many mostly positive Garmin Nuvi 200 user comments and reviews. Printed instructions are sparse so best to just use it and discover its features step by step. Works very accurately, instantly amending/updating info. if one makes a wrong turn, when changing routes for personal preference and/or varying driving speeds. Important note: I had wrongly assumed that all sat-navs allowed advance route planning like say AA Route Planner but currently only dearer models seem to offer that. There are Nuvi route planning 'work arounds' on the internet but these seem complicated to me. I find it easiest to simply drive off in the preferred direction regardless of what Nuvi says as it quickly recognises your likely route ( the most expedient in prioritised order I presume? ) and adjusts accordingly. Although factory overhauled I would not have known other than its plain box. No loads of extras like MP3 but what it does offer works really well. The 3.5inch screen is easily read and the smaller overall size is handy to store in a low-cost Ebay HK sourced carry case. Will add Continental Europe maps later probably with a 'plug-in and play' SD card upgrade. The Nuvi's strong clear female voice, without comments like, 'you don't listen to me' or 'Did you clean your teeth before we left home' helps make journeys far less stressful! Am sure Nuvi helps save time and fuel by smoothing out journeys and the constantly displayed estimated time of arrival that adjusts while driving is reassuring. My previously non-techy and now almost redundant lady map reader also loves the Nuvi!
