The monitor has a video on/off button so you can use the 'audio only' option at night and it has a power saver feature 'times out' after 3 minutes to save battery life. There is a low battery indicator and the rechargeable battery lasts up to 10 hours. Loud audio crackling interference at short range
I have contacted the manufacturer, and followed their advice (turn off cordless phones, wireless internet, etc) and I still get loud audio crackling when using the receiver in a neighbouring room only 6 metres from the camera, on the best of the three available channels.

It may be that the neighbours have equipment that interferes, but I can't very well ask them to stop using their phone. For a 100 pound monitor that claims to have a range of 100 metres, this has not worked for me at all.

do not buy
Do not but this monitor, nothing but interference from microwaves Bluetooth, wireless and anything that moves could cause interference just by moving my finger also screen gets very hot and the range is terrible. Changed it and got a digital instead perfect no interference and the screen doesn't heat up.

Great Camera Bad Audio
I have found the camera on this absolutely fantastic but what is very disappointing is the fact that the audio part of it is prone to interference and is really not useable.
