The monitor will alarm if your child goes outside your designated preset distance. This gives them the freedom and independence to explore without the constraints of traditional manual devices like reins. It also allows mum and dad to have the confidence to let them do so knowing they will always be alerted if they stray a little too far. The furthest setting range for this item is 50m from 5m. Could be better
Given the low price of this item I didn't have great expectations. It is better than some of the alternatives I have tried (and returned) but even at the minimum distance setting the transmitter must be approx 30m away before the alarm triggers. Also, it seems that the transmitter and receiver must be re-matched after they have been switched off even if only for a few minutes. Furthermore, the instructions don't seem to indicate how long the units might operate between charges. I tried emailing the manufacturer but received an "email undeliverable" reply from my email provider, suggesting the company has gone out of business.

Waste of money
Works but you need to pair the units together and set desired distance and alarm settings on EVERY use. whilst i was setting it up my child wandered off bored of waiting!
