Editorial Reviews
CD Description
On his full-length studio debut, THESE STREETS, young Scottish singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini offers up a confident setof pop-savvy tunes in the vein of James Blunt and John Mayer. Helmed by esteemed producer Ken Nelson (Badly Drawn Boy, Coldplay), the album deftly mixes mid-tempo rock songs (the scrappy "Jenny Don't Be Hasty") with emotive ballads (the yearning "Last Request"; the regretful "Rewind"), revealing Nutini's raspy-voiced, easy-going charm. A highly successful record in the U.K., THESE STREETS bodes well for Nutini's future work.
About the Artist
Born and raised in Paisley, Scotland, Paolo Nutini is a 20-year-old singer/ songwriter blessed with a soulful, passionate voice and the natural gift of being able to tell a story in a song. Like many of the truly inspired singer/songwriters before him, Nutini has absorbed the soul of classic artist from both sides of the Atlantic and channeled it into something original, captivating, and dynamic.
"Everything that has happened to me so far has been really good, really fluent," Nutini says. "There have been a few bumps along the way, sure, but nothing fatal. All I want now is for enough people to identify with my songs so I can keep on singing them. I like to think they're worth hearing."
Customer Reviews
A great special edition of a great artist - buy it!
I'd really only heard Paolo Nutini's singles on the radio, and as most DJ's don't often name the artist, it's only when you see and hear someone like Paolo Nutini live that you realise what a stunning young talent he is. I was lucky to see him at the IoW Festival this year (and at Rip Curl in Newquay) and he was brilliant! This special edition CD captures that IoW gig on the second CD; his performance that day (and later on stage guesting with the Stones) was riveting, and this comes through on the CD. If you already have the original "These Streets" CD I can only sympathise; this is an excellent addition to anyone's collection, buy this one as well or instead. You won't regret it. Thoroughly recommended!
Outstanding
This Guy is amazing - The Live CD is one of the best albums I have bought in years!
Great on cd, but live?
I'm new to Paolo's music but after listening to the recorded cd and the live cd, I feel I'm sent into a time warp? because the artist on the live tracks sounds a good few hundred years older then the artist that recorded the first cd? Perhaps I'm being unfair, if so I do apologies but it still remains, I had no enjoyment from the live tracks as they had no resemblance to the recorded versions, unless they reversed the age of the artist for the original and then cranked it back?
