Manufacturer's Description
The WPN824 RangeMax Wireless Router adjusts to interference and the physical barriers in your home to deliver up to 500,000 square feet of coverage. With RangeMax wireless dynamic connectivity there is no need to spend extra money on range extenders, repeaters and external antennas. There is also no need to throw away your older wireless devices; RangeMax is compatible with 802.11b, 802.11g and SuperG products and will boost their range and speed by up to 50%.

RangeMax is an advanced Smart MIMO (Multi-in, Multi-Out*) technology that uses seven internal antennas. The RangeMax WPN824 wireless router constantly surveys your home or office environment for physical barriers and interference: The RangeMax router adapts on the fly, adjusting the wireless signal to compensate for these performance blockers. For example; if you carry your laptop from the living room to the study, RangeMax automatically senses the change and selects from over 100 possible antenna configurations to deliver you the fastest, clearest connection! Everyone will enjoy consistently high-speed connections, everywhere in your house - no dropouts and no wireless dead spots.

NETGEAR ensures that every computer, laptop or console user connected to your wireless network can work and play safely. The WPN824 RangeMax Wireless router comes with a double firewall, WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) encryption and WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access, Pre-Shared Key) security. These security features add powerful safeguards against unauthorised usage.

NETGEAR's Smart Wizard makes the set-up of the RangeMax wireless router easy and hassle-free. Smart Wizard automatically detects your ISP's network settings, then walks you through each step of the installation process.

    Rangemax - Purchase a beauty5
I brought the rangemax wireless router to use BT Broadband with 2 home computers and a laptop. The range and speed is almost always around 54mps and an excellent signal quality. I have sat at the end of our 200ft garden and can still get a good signal. The setup was easy enough just put in the CD and your off. One word of warning though this product needs an external Ethernet Modem not USB as supplied with most broadband providers.

    Ignore the FRUSTRATED review below5
This to alert non-techie users to the bad information given in the review posted on 4 January 2006 entitled "Frustrated - Not Half". It is not Netgear's fault that the wrong router was purchased by the previous reviewer. This router is designed to work with cable broadband suppliers (such as NTL & Telewest) and therefore will not support PPPoA as they don't use that protocol. However if you want PPPoA to use with a BT phone line, you need the Netgear model DG834PN - the ADSL Modem Router. This does support PPPoA and will work with any broadband that uses a BT phone line. I have used both Netgear & Belkin products, so I know what I'm talking about.

    Perfect!5
I upgraded the WPN824, from the WGR614v6 as my home network was rapidly growing. It is far better than standard G, well done with the delivery Amazon! You won't be dissapointed, it even comes with Trend Micro security built into the router. Installing and replacing my old router was easy, it took 5 minutes even with advanced settings (WPA-PSK), ssid, mac list, lan ip reservation etc... I even managed to set it up with my other router in conjunction. If you need an upgrade from your old router this is for you, if you want to start wireless networking, I seriously recommend it. This is by far the best MIMO out there!

People that say the lights are annoying are wrong, it looks cool. However, if you are different, you can turn them off in version 2.
