Customer Reviews

Poor build quality, but for those with faulty units you can make it work!2
I ordered this last week and like some of the other reviewers, found it was faulty 'out of the box' - I connected up my PS3, V+ and PCH110 but had no optical signal at all from the cable in the I/O port. I contacted the Marketplace seller and they agreed to send a replacement, but that didn't work either.

Given that this device should really only act as a conduit to channel the optical signal from the inputs to an output, I couldn't work out why it wasn't functioning properly, so decided to open it up to take a look.

When I unscrewed the case I could see why straight away. There is a short black optical cable coming out of the central selector unit that fits into the I/O port, but that cable is not fixed to either the case or the black connector port - so each time the selector switch is turned to select a different port, the black cable moves accordingly. As a result the cable had come away from the connector port.

To prevent the cable moving around when the switch is turned, I've glued the cable to bottom of the case and also glued the gold lip at the end of the cable to the black connector port, so it doesn't detach from the port at all. I screwed the case back together, tested again and this time it was fine.

Obviously this is not ideal and not something as a consumer you should have to do, but I least mine is working now.

Does just what it should5
This is a nice simple switching device at a low price point. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and so long as you don't mind turning a little dial to switch between your inputs, this is a perfect solution for those with a need to amplify multiple devices via a single amp/processor etc.

It's not the smallest device but depending on your setup shouldn't be too difficult to conceal behind other equipment, CDs or DVDs, or whatever else. If you don't want to spend a lot of money to get around the problem then this is a good choice.

Works just fine.5
This product works just fine for me, I connected my Sky HD box, Samsung Blu Ray player, Samsung TV then out to Sony surround amp. Having to switch manually doesn't bother me, it all works well and is an absolute bargain at the price.
