    Good, but not amazing4
I wanted to purchase a reasonable sized LCD for my bedroom, mainly to play on games with the PS3.

I spent ages and could not really decide between the Sony 32V4000 and the LG 32LG4000, both fairly similar in specification and price, but in the end I chose this LG 32LG4000 as this had an extra DVD Player and 50,000-1 contrast ratio.

When the screen arrived I was pretty happy with the design and the deep red edged finish. Once turned on it was a quick and easy setup, just plug and play. The remote control is well designed with a well displayed keypad.

The sound quality is good, as it has a hidden speaker design I expected less, but to my surprise a very good quality for games and films.

I also have a 40inch Samsung 1080p (50,000-1 Contrast ratio) in the living room, compared to this, I do think the built in freeview in the LG is far quicker, easier to use and better displayed.

Although this LG only has 720p HD, the picture quality it is very good, the only downside is the Black levels, when playing on the PS3 I noticed that the shadows in some games are not as dark.

I would recommend this LG 32LG4000 as a second TV for a small room i.e small living room/bedroom.

The DVD player is fairly good, as it saves space for external ones, Quick and easy to use, just pop the DVD in and it will play instantly (auto changing to DVD display), also with a good display of buttons on the remote control.

Overall a good TV, but could be better on the black darkness levels.
(I'm only disappointed with this, as I am too use to my Samsung and it is just not as good in comparison, but as this LG 32LG4000 is half the price I really shouldn't complain.)

    Nice combination unit4
My wife bought this for me as a birthday present yesterday. The family has a fairly basic requirement for TV (this replaces a 21" CRT TV/video combi with external Humax digibox and DVD recorder, which was our main TV).

The unit was easy to setup, the display & sound seem pretty good, there is just one remote control for everything (which is great). Overall, the family seem very pleased with it.

There are just a couple of minor niggles that I am still working on:-
    1) first time round the TV scan only found about a dozen digital channels. Second time round, it found about 50, including all the channels I care about. However, the kids muttered that it doesn't find two or three music channels they used to watch (which the Humax digibox found with no problem).
    2) slightly more worryingly, when we watched a pre-recorded DVD last night in the built in DVD player, there seemed to be quite a lot of the time when the sound and picture were out of synch. I've tried reporting that to LG customer services via their site, but that reports that their warranty reporting form is down for maintenance. I'll keep trying.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the LG site says this product is discontinued and cannot be bought at stores.

So I would recommend it and think it is a very nice, neat package. I am really being very picky, but those minor points bring it down slightly from 5 to 4 stars. If I get them fixed, I'll up it to 5 in a shot.

    28/11/2009 Update
    -----------------
I haven't had the sound synch problem since that first time, so I guess it was the disk (despite it being a pre-recorded disk).
We have just ordered one for my mother-in-law because she saw it and thought it was such a nice screen, and very simple to use (she is a bit scared of new technology).
I'm angling after getting one of the LG hard disk recorders for Christmas (eg http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-RHT397H-Freeview-Recorder-Upscaling/dp/B0018BOAP6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1259398493&sr=8-1 ) which imply that the Simplink facility means you can still do all the things you need to do with just one remote control.
So all in all, I guess I'm highly recommending this unit - and I'll try to take the star rating up to five from 4.

    Just about OK3
Bought this for a second TV but overall not very pleased. I only watch Freeview on it, and just cant seem to get a picture that has the right colours, brightness etc. I have tried various settings but no use. Further the viewing angle is terrible, unless your right in front of the screen, there isnt much to see. Finally the sound is below average...I thought for a TV thats around £400 or so, they would have put decent speakers.....but this sounds terrible (sound is clear but listening to music or watching a movie is painful)..verdict...look around before you get this one.
