Amazon.co.uk Review
With a voice like Stevie Wonder, a production sound that recalls the string-laden, slinky-bass disco of Studio 54 and a penchant for funky dance moves and outlandish hats, Jamiroquai's Jay Kay has successfully managed to straddle the underground and mainstream for the best part of 15 years. High Times brings together 19 of his band's hits to date, ranging from early 90s acid jazz classics "When You Gonna Learn", "Too Young To Die" and "Blow Your Mind", to later successes such as "Canned Heat", "Cosmic Girl", "Virtual Insanity" and on to recent songs from 2005 album Dynamite, such as "Feels Just Like It Should" and "7 Days In Sunny June". There are also two new tracks - the current single "Runaway" and the edgier "Radio", both of which continue the Jamiroquai tradition of mildly euphoric dancefloor disco-soul. Despite sticking to a formula of sorts over the years, the songs on this collection compliment each other well and form an impressive overview of one of the UK’s most distinctive bands.--Danny McKenna

Jamiroquai - High Times: Singles 1992-2006
It isn't until you see the track listing for this album that you realise what a long running and continuously successful career Jamiroquai have had. From their debut single; "When you gunna learn" which peaked at #52 in the charts to their newest realease "Runaway" this album has all the highs and lows of their career.
Jamiroquai, lead by singer songwriter Jay-K, were set up after he failed to get a part in the 90's band "Brand New Heavies" and after their fourteen successful years in the spotlight, Jamiroquai have had a total of 20 band members and have recorded with the likes of Jools Holland, Kool and the Gang and Beverley Knight to name a few.
For anyone who [very sadly] don't know who or what Jamiroquai are, their sound can be described as Acid-Jazz Funk Pop Dance with exceptional vocal parts from Jay-K as well as brilliant guitar riffs, excellent strings, fabulous rhythmns and funky bass lines, and their sound is an all together catchy and loveable one at that.
And whilst Jamiroquai have had some fabulous hit singles, you may be shocked to know that alot of their tracks peaked outside of the top ten, and alot also outside of the top twenty. And in their 14 year career Jamiroquai have only managed to score one number one record in the UK singles charts. Dispite this their albums have all been consistantly successful, all peaking within the top three, many of which went to number one!
"High Times" is collection of Jamiroquai's most successful works to date, featuring their huge songs; "Canned Heat", "Cosmic Girl" and their number one single (which featured in the Godzilla movie) "Deeper Underground". The album also features a second CD of some great remixs of their best known tracks, and whilst they may not be as widely popular to Jamiroquai's audience, for anyone who enjoyed them in nightclubs in the late 90's, this will be a CD to bring back memories.
This is an album for every music collection. Jamiroquai's music is iconic to the music industry and deserves to be loved and enjoyed by everyone!
10/10 for "High Times"
Absolutely brilliant!
I have a been a huge Jamiroquai fan for about 10 years now since I was 9 and they have been consistently brilliant throughout their 14 year career.
This tracklisting as a body of work in chronological order demonstrates just how consistently brilliant the band have been. Right from the debut single When You Gonna Learn through to the newest offerings, Runaway and Radio, the quality in instrumentation and sublime vocal work from JK is ever present.
My constant gripe as a Jamiroquai fan is the ignorant view many people have that the bands music is formulaic and all songs are similar!
But just listen to this collection from start to finish and the evolution of sound from the brass and string filled acid jazz sounds of Too Young to Die and Blow Your Mind, to the more recent rockier songs such as Radio and Feels Just Like it Should is evident.
Jamiroquai are a truly wonderful, unique band with the marvellous JK being the heart beat. I challenge anyone to listen to this collection and say that Jamiroquai are not one of the best British bands in the last 15-20 years.
Has to be 5 stars!
Fantastic Music!
This is by far one of the best cd's out there right now!
Jamiroquai is an icon of the british music scene, without a doubt, they made their path, and became one of the best groups of the last 20 years of the music industry. The sound so refreshing, the beats and the melodies, are going to stay for many years.
This cd marks, the success and the superior quality of Pop-Funk-Techno music!
Long Live Jamiroquai!
