Mod up your car with the aid of this book!
Ok racers and cruisers calm down! yes this book will show you how to modify your car beyond regognition if thats what you want to do. but it also tells you of the consiquences of "kitting" up your car, as in the law will appear to be singling you out if you drive past in your car with speakers blasting, your new 18" rims, a spolier pointing out like a fin off a formular 1 car and neons blazing away underneath, it also tells you what the insurance compaines may do if you mod your car and try to get insurance for a price less than a yearly morgage. But if you can afford to insure the car then this is the book for you. Happy motoring everyone.
Nice
This is a good book. It tells you how make most modifications to an Escort, it's well illustrated, and well written. Some of the modifications are even tasteful. The laws section is very helpful (tells you that neons are illegal in all forms) and the brief buyers guide listing the bhp and insurance groups of the best Escorts to buy is a nice touch.
The criticisms I have, which aren't really any fault of the book, are that it focuses a lot on their Mk5 Escort, but I drive a Mk4 and several sections of the book didn't really apply, although it still serves as a source of inspiration. I was also a bit disappointed with the book, because I'd already read Haynes Max Power ICE, which is an excellent book, and this one failed to live up to it. If you drive an Escort or are thinking about buying one this book is probably a worthwhile buy at this price, but the ICE Manual is well worth getting.
