    Excellent Remote Control5
I love the Apple Remote. It totally redefines what a remote control should look and feel like. It's very small, it's light, it fits nicely in the hand, it works in all directions, and it's very simple to use. You can use it to control Apple MacBooks, Apple iMacs, Apple iPod Universal Docks, and Apple TVs, which is pretty clever when you consider it only has 6 buttons.

But the thing that I like most about the Apple Remote is that, because it only has 6 buttons, you don't need to look at it to use it. Most remote controls have so many buttons, that you keep having to look at them to locate the correct button. For older people that wear reading glasses this can pose a real problem, because they keep having to switch between reading (for remote) and distance (for TV) glasses. But with the Apple Remote this isn't an issue. It's very easy to remember where all the buttons are, and it's so easy to feel them with your thumb that you never need to look at the remote. Excellent.

Menu button does nothing - sequential selection only2
I was ready to be pretty impressed by this piece of kit only to find it has one enormous flaw. The 'Menu' button does absolutely nothing (at least not with the new 30gb video ipod).

What this means is that you can start from any position in a playlist, album or shuffle playlist or whatever, and then only move forwards or backwards within that list. You CANNOT change artist, album, playlist or whatever.

I would have given it more stars if it DIDN'T have the menu button as this is just plain misleading.

Come on Apple - issue am upgrade to make the menu button work.

This is a universal remote - that is why the menue button.5
The reason the menue botton will not work with the iPod is that this is the Apple Universal Remote and is the same one for all products that need one. The menue botton is for use with FRONT ROW on all new iMacs including he Mac Mini.

SImple really. IT works as the others have said beautfully and if you have an iMac or a Mac Mini ten the menue button will work like a dream.
